image dump!

Well, this semester was pretty awesome! I've finally finished up at the technical school I've been attending, and have started the process of moving to Savannah to attend SCAD in January! Here is a bit of stuff I did for my most recent drawing class:
A duck!

A drawing of a pine cone!

Part two: turn that pine cone into something else- I chose a lionfish!

Draw an alien based on another student's description: the guy wrote it like it was a giant purple bipedal frog.

And the final, which was a set of old master studies- I chose John Singer Sargent, and this drawing was the best of them, I think.

It's been quite hectic packing everything up- I've never moved to another state before, but I'm looking forward to looking at some new scenery and starting up at a new school!

distorted reflection

So I've been slowly moving towards the end of this semester; it's been somewhat bittersweet for me- I love my drawing class, but I'm just so ready to just get it over with and just move already!

This is one of the latest projects I've done for class- a distorted reflection. There was a kitty in the original, but he was being a butt so I took him out. The reflection was in a Christmas ornament that was set inside of a shot glass and put on a trunk in my bedroom; the paper was a bit of a challenge since it didn't want to accept a lot of the dark graphite, but I think overall it turned out okay.

i'm still alive

Part of my exit portfolio exhibit.
Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know that I haven't died or anything- I've just had quite a busy few months. I went through my exit portfolio class this summer (which ends in a show where we exhibit our work), finally finished my associate's degree and have been getting ready to move two hours south to Savannah, where I'll be attending The Savannah College of Art and Design!

Finally!
In the meantime, I've been taking a few more transfer classes, including another drawing course, which has been a ton of fun!

exit poster update

So you've probably noticed that the picture above looks a little different from the previous post. I decided to rework the image to give it more of a simplistic look, since I didn't want to overwhelm the text information.

But there's also another issue that I'm still facing: it's printing super-dark. I've found a good resource with information about this at Dani Jones' Page, and I've lightened the image quite a bit as a result. I also changed the font to something a bit more whimsical and fun, since it's (hopefully?) going to be hanging up all over school.

exit poster work in progress!

Hey everyone! I'm still getting the hang of Blogger at the moment, so if these posts are formatted oddly, never fear! I'll get the hang of it eventually. In the meantime, here's a WIP of a project I'm working on- it's a poster for our school's exit portfolio show, where all of the associate degree students get to show off their work. I would say it's about half (?) done at the moment; there's some serious blending that needs to get done on those figures, and the outline as well. When the rendering is done, I'm going to add the text information in the center with InDesign.

I did a test print, and it also looks like I'm going to have to lighten it as well.

P.S. Does that girl look just a little too familiar? I did a couple of other poses in the sketch, but she just seemed to work so well again here!

very first blog post!

This is my inaugural blog post! Here's something festive to commemorate.
